FCAT Testing begins next week. We need 100% attendance. A FREE breakfast will be served to ALL STUDENTS on Monday-April 15th, Tuesday-Aprl 16th, and Wednesday-April 17th to help them prepare for the activity. Math 6th,7th, & 8th Grade | Reading - Computer Based 6th Grade | Reading - Computer Based 7th Grade | Reading - Paper Based 8th Grade | Science 8th Grade | | April 15th | Week of April 16th - 19th | Week of April 22nd - 26th | April 16th - 17th | April 18th |
The Reading portion is in two sessions given on two consective days. Students in 6th and 7th grade are assigned and notified of their specific testing dates to be tested on the computer. Leaving Campus—If your student leaves campus before completing the test (for lunch, an appointment, or illness, etc.), he or she WILL NOT be allowed to complete the test. If your student does not feel well on the day of testing, it may be best for him or her to wait and be tested on a make-up day.
Electronic Devices—If your student is found with ANY electronic devices during testing or during breaks in the test session, his or her test will be invalidated, which means it will not be scored. The best practice would be for students to leave devices at home or in their lockers on the day of testing. |
Testing District Assessment Middle school students will be assessed in reading, math, science, Algebra I, Geometry, and Biology in Discovery Education. Discovery Education is a comprehensive Student Progress Monitoring System for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. The Discovery Education system is aligned to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS). For further information please open the attached brochure. EOC Elegible student will be taking the Algebra 1/Biology 1/Geometry End-of-Course Assessment(s) on to be scheduled later in the school year. EOC assessments are computer-based tests (CBT), and your student will have an opportunity to participate in a practice test to become familiar with the software, item types, and online tools he or she will encounter and use during testing. FCAT Students in grade 4, 8, or 10 will be taking the FCAT Writing test in February. Students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 8 will take the FCAT 2.0 paper-based Reading, students in grades 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 the FCAT 2.0 paper-based Math, and students in grades 5 and 8 the FCAT 2.0 paper-based Science Assessments in April. Students in grades 6, 7, 9 and 10 will take the FCAT 2.0 computer-based Reading Assessment, and students in grade 5 will take the FCAT 2.0 computer-based Math Assessment. | |
Attention Parents of 6th Graders The Florida Department of Health and the Department of Education require all students entering 7th grade to have a Tdap booster (adult strength tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine.An updated Florida Certification of Immunization DH 680 Form must be presented to the school before your child can receive a schedule or enter school on the first day of classes, August 12, 2013. To assist you with this requirement, the Seminole County Health Department has partnered with the Seminole County School Board to hold 6th grade Tdap clinics for the dates and sites listed below.
Note: All children may receive the required vaccines.Children with Medicaid or without insurance are eligible for the recommended vaccines Hepatitis A, HPV, and Meningococcal. If you can’t attend a clinic above or see your private provider, your child’s Immunizations and the DH 680 form can be obtained at the Seminole County Health Department in Sanford, no appointment needed. Hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00–11:30 a.m., and 1 - 4 p.m., Thursday 8 – 11:30 a.m. only. For more information, call 407-665-3281. If you plan to bring your 6th grader to one of the above Tdap clinics, please complete and return the attached pre-registration form to your child’s school office by March 21. This is so we will be able to have your child’s immunization record available at the clinic, which will minimize your wait time. 2012-2013 DRESS CODE
The standards of appearance for students shall insure that the students be clean, neat, and properly dressed. They shall observe modes of dress and standards of personal grooming which are appropriate for the academic environment.
The following information is proposed to help clarify the Seminole County Public School dress code for 2011-12.
HEAD: No caps, visors, hoods, bandanas, sunglasses or other head gear may be worn on campus except with administrative permission.
UPPER GARMENTS: All garments
must have a collar or sleeves. Prohibited: halter tops, tube tops, backless dresses/tops, spaghetti straps and tank tops.
Shirts must touch, at a minimum the top portion of lower garments at all times.
LOWER GARMENTS: Undergarments and the buttocks MUST remain entirely covered even while seated.
Dresses, skirts and shorts must be at least mid-thigh or below in length. Rips/tears are not permitted.
