Week of May 14-18: Fahrenheit 451 plot diagram and journaling activities will be due on Friday. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday. See the Part 2 List. Our final test will occur on the exam days and will apply our academic vocabulary words to Fahrenheit 451. Students will be able to use the novel. However, they should be familiar with the academic vocabulary terms. The format will be short answer and essay questions.

Exam Schedule:

Thurday May 24- 1st period

Friday May 25- Periods 2 and 7

Tuesday May 29- Periods 3 and 6

Wednesday May 30- Periods 4 and 5

Week of May 7-11:  Fahrenheit 451 reading and journaling activities, keep up with plot diagram, and study for a Part 1 Vocabulary Quiz that will occur on Friday. The words are on their foldable or can be found in the Fourth Nine Weeks PowerPoint.

Week of April 30-May 4:  Poetry Project due on block day of this week. 

There is no independent reading log due this week. Students are answering journal questions about Fahrenheit 451 instead. The journal questions should be stapled together and turned in on Friday. The journal questions can be found in the Fourth Nine Weeks PowerPoint.

 There is a quiz on subject and verb agreement on Friday.  Students should study their notes handout.

Poetry Project due May 2 (Period 4) and May 3 (Periods 1, and 3).  Please see the Poetry Project Rubric and Instructions on the Document Manager of this website.

Week of April 23-27:  Students should read and journal 4 days this week. The journal is due on Friday.

Quote Assignment: Write an original quote about something that is important to you. Follow the quote with your name. Do this on unlined computer paper. Use a large font and word process your quote if possible.  If not, use markers to write the quote in large letters on unlined paper. Check your spelling and grammar.  Make sure the quote contains your words.

 

Week of April 16-20: FCAT Week. Students should read and journal 20-30 minutes on Wednesday and Thursday night and turn in their journals on Friday. The Poetry Project is due on block day, May 2 or May 3. Students have been given a draft of the poetry project. A more finalized copy is located on the Document Manager.

Week of April 9-13:  Read 20-30 minutes and journal.  Due on Friday.

Study Island:  Characterization, Figurative Language, and Connotative Meanings- Due Friday

Week of April 2-5: Read 20-30 minutes and journal for 4 days.  Due on Monday, April 9.

Quiz on block day on last week's Question Words, Author's Perspective, Author's Purpose, and Point of View.

Study Island: Textual Evidence, Inferences, Central Idea. Do a minimum of 10 items for each. Due at the end of the day on Thursday.

Week of March 26-30:  Read 20-30 minutes per day and journal.  Study Island: Meaning and Tone due at end of day on Monday, March 26.

   Students should have a book to read in their back pack at all times. Students are to read independently when they finish their classwork.

Supplies needed:  1 inch soft binder with 5 dividers. Label dividers bell work, notes, academic vocabulary, graded papers, and story vocabulary.  Composition notebook (no spirals please), wide lined paper, pencils, blue or black pens, a two pocket folder.
